Puff Granny crochet pattern

£8.00

This is the granny square cardigan I needed, you probably need it too; it's got the sleeves, it’s got the cute buttons, and it's got the classic style. Make one for each season, wear it until it falls apart. The natural tones of the wool add to the 70s vibes and feel soft and gentle like dried flowers, campfires, forests and Autumn leaves.

The cardigan is made using a Worsted/Aran yarn, which is perfect for building up the texture and puff stitches.

The pattern includes a chart for the square and half square, complete step-by-step photo tutorials for the full square and half square, as well as diagrams for how to construct the cardigan.

It is written in both UK and US terms.

Pattern difficulty: Intermediate.

Sizing: There are 4 fits of the puff granny spanning XS-5X.

Yarn information

Yarn A: Lion Brand Fishermen's Wool (Weight: Worsted/Aran – 318m, 170g) – Birch Tweed (#202)

Yarn B: Jamieson's of Shetland (Weight: Aran - 92m, 50g) - Ginger Snap Heather Aran (#331)

Yarn alternatives: Fishermen's Wool is a Worsted weight yarn (this is more common in the US and is often between a dk and Aran) but any light weight Aran should produce a good result. The Yarn quantities are based on these specific brands but should be generous enough for all others.

I made my second version in Paintbox 100% Wool Worsted Superwash shades: Grass Green (1229), Champagne White (1202) and Buttercup Yellow (1222) which also worked well. It Is lighter weight than the Fishermen's wool so expect to go up to a 5.5 or 6mm hook or make a slightly smaller cardigan overall with a lighter weight Worsted.
